Deli House Catering to unveil " Stellar Hall" via Grand Opening

Deli House Catering has been enjoying their busiest year ever thanks to loyal repeat customers and new clients as well. With more and more businesses discovering the full service catering company - and the fact they also now sport a beautiful hall - they have finally begun to reap the benefits, allowing them to make a few changes to appease their Chef, such as in-house baking, and install new flooring in their smaller meet / greet room as well as add a new dance-floor for the main hall.

The gorgeous, 200 seat room, has been used primarily for live event functions, banquets, weddings, and business luncheons but not to the capacity and variety that owner Johhny Cutroni was happy with, so the idea of giving the hall it's own identity was born.

One variety of event looking to be planned for the future is a brides guide folder launch party that features an industry " Headliner" for the cover, such as a dress designer, with full colour front and back covers, and other wedding industry companies fill up the interior and act as informational as well as promotional tools for brides and all those listed in the folder. The folder-guide launch will also feature samplings, demonstrations, and info on the businesses in the guide and will be open to select invitees.

Stellar Hall will hold a Grand Opening Party to kick off officially in July and will include invited guests made up of their neighbouring businesses, as well as residents, friends, past clients, and off-work staff. Live Entertainment is also on the slate for the Stellar  kick-off party, as well as samplings of their famous Deli House food-fare, and of course host a bar as well.

If you'd like to attend the Grand Opening for Stellar Hall, drop Johhny an e-line or call Deli House Catering at 905-830-4208 for more

Banquet Hall New Year's and Wedding Decor

Delihouse Catering had a wedding coming in recently into their beautiful banquet hall and I thought it might be an opportune time to gets some video footage to make a corporate video from. It's not everyday that the hall is done up as it depends on the occasion and it could be anything from a party to live entertainment to a meeting happening in there but none done as beautiful as weddings usually are and as these pics attest to.
D.C. Hall
The DC Hall sure does look beautiful done up so I made a picto - video.

As it got busy I found myself helping out a bit, just like the old days when I'd do weddings and such for Johnny when my kids were all small and he didn't have any. Now his are small and my daughter's helping on occasion, and she hates when I'm there! Ha...Anyway I got out of the way after main course but anyone could see things were going well and the guests having a good time....and the banquet hall looked phenomenal.

New Year's Eve, DC Hall has The Highway 11 Cruiser's hosting a New Year's Gala in the hall for $60 with all the fixings!..Meantime watch for an all ages battle of the bands finalists showcase coming Dec 15th and a 19 Plus show featuring The Salads! Who knows?? Maybe I'll look at booking some of these guys / bands for New Years Eve at another locale and have Delihouse off- premise cater or staff it as well.

Have your New Years here!

At any rate I know Halloween hasn't even hit yet, but don't get caught out for new year's ..book now and save the hassle as there's only room for 300!

The stunning hall greeted the recent wedding guests after they first milled in the smaller west room to snack and grab a drink after which they were delivered appetizers as they chatted / arrived into the main semi-connected hall. "Mmms" and "Yums" could be heard as I bantered about! Meantime back in the kitchen the gang was putting together all the plates for each course as they came. I was designated plate wiper! Chef Ramsay'ed of been proud. Ha.

The room gives a great view from any vantage point so all guests feel connected to the head table. With amazing acoustics - the hall was originally an entertainment hall in the 60/'s70's - entertainment and sound create acoustical excellence here!

Rock & Roll Dead or Alive

Rock & Roll...Dead or Alive!?
Recently, in a discussion I was having with some colleagues including Johnny from Deli House Catering - a longtime Newmarket mainstay - suddenly blurted out,

"I want you to think about this before answering but don't you think rock & roll is dead?"

before adding, while turning to me who had also just announced entering the 2012 Collingwood Elvis Festival, "Not Elvis I don't mean" he'd said ironically, "But think about it, what rock stars exist anymore that aren't old?"

My initial reaction was to say that of course this was absurd, that there were lots of talented bands and players out there still like.. like... well besides, the old music is now becoming "in" with the younger generation it seems. Even my own daughter thinks The Beatles were the best band that ever lived. Who can argue that one? But then who can argue any of Johnny's points? And further, if he's right, what can be done to make sure, as they say, rock & roll never dies?

I have the unique experience of having once "worked" with boy bands 'inventor" and Author of the book " Bands, Brands, and Billions", Lou Perlman. Of course that was as an Associate Producer on a musical to be, "Red Riding Hood", and Lou was a Co-Executive Producer. Prior I'd worked on Supercross the Movie, which Perlman also had a stake in and front end Executive Produced memory serves. Anyway, it was to star one of the former boy band members. It'll come to me. It wasn't Justin Timberlake, although he didn't do too badly either, and was going to be directed by Randl Kleiser, the same Director as "Grease", top grossing movie musical of all time.
Tom Pearson's Elvis shot
It was surreal when execs from L.A. flew down at xmas to take us out for an expensive lunch and got Lou himself on the phone. At any rate, this was all before Perlman was busted and sent to jail for tax evasion or something and projects like this fell through. Reality check.Ha.

So I lost out working on a dream project while saddled as a single dad with two kids & no lucrative project we thought we'd be working on for the next few years, whilst Perlman got sent to likely a cushy retirement-like residence with a golf course knowing his pull / money. Jury's out on who got the better deal! Ha! Joey Fatone! That's it! Ha! Someone else has since successfully produced a blockbuster-like Red Riding Hood movie of course. Doh!

I did manage to learn some lessons about "branding" from him though, such as at the core the talent has to be there. The Backstreet Boys could sing and dance, there was no question, but as a group dynamic that is an area that can be underestimated in a music world in which only some cream gets to rises to the top.

"Groups have to have the 'it' factor - whether manufactured or real - just like any good movie where the characters are all well defined. Same goes with a music group." Tom Pearson

Some time ago I brought a group of fellows in to meet Johnny and to have a look see of the DC Hall, with the guys leaving impressed with the setup and acoustics. They just finished running a successful battle of the bands with art displays series that ran over 7 weeks and numerous rock bands.

Look for us to put something together in a series of shows in the near future that will help make sure Johnny is wrong and a whole new generation of new rock and rollers survive!

Come back baby! Rock & Roll Never forgets!
